  • The Facts: This Is It, written and illustrated by Daria Peoples-Riley, published by Greenwillow Books an imprint of Harper Collins Publishers, New York, NY 2018, 30 pages, ISBN: 978-0-06-265776-3 (hardcover).

  • Summary:  This Is It is a visually stunning and great read geared towards children ages 5 and up, grades K-5, and is the perfect book to read as a bedtime story with children of all ages. This Is It is a book promoting empowerment, confidence, and self-esteem masquerading as a book about dance.  The author uses a mixture of different writing styles and illustration to make her points.  While the book has minimized text, the words that are used are direct, powerful, and effective in conveying messages of confidence and self-love.

  • The Review This book is beautifully illustrated, and my daughter immediately gravitated towards it as a little girl of color who loves to dance and who felt connected to the main character because she looked a little like her. As a parent I gravitated towards this book because my daughter liked it and because while it is about dance it is about so much more. This book is a delightful story for the little aspiring dancers in your life or any child with a dream.
